He retired from international cricket in June last year. After that, Eoin Morgan played in different franchise leagues. Now that chapter also ended. England’s most successful captain in white ball cricket announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Monday. England won their first ODI World Cup under Morgan’s leadership in 2019. The marquee batsman led England to a record 126 ODIs and 72 T20s and started his international career for Ireland in 2006.
The 36-year-old Morgan played his last match in professional cricket for Pearl Royals in South Africa’s T20 League last Wednesday. This time he will be seen in the role of commentator. In his retirement message, Morgan said, ‘I am proudly announcing my retirement from all forms of cricket. After much thought, it seems that it is time to leave the game for which I have received so much. After joining England’s Middlesex in 2005, I enjoyed every moment until playing for Pearl Royals in the South African league. … I will miss this challenge and thrill.’
