He currently secures the fifth spot in the most recent rankings unveiled by the ICC. Notably, Gill has surged by two positions, achieving a career-best rating of 743. He is inching closer to the Pakistani duo—Fakhar Zaman in the third spot (755) and Imam-ul-Haq in the fourth (745). Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, remains within striking distance. Babar occupies the pinnacle of the rankings with 886 points. While a gap of over 100 points separates Babar and Gill, Gill’s continued impressive performances in the upcoming Asia Cup and India vs. Australia ODIs could potentially bridge this gap swiftly.
