BCB Shows Interest in Asia Cup Regardless of the Model

Despite previous reservations about playing in Dubai due to the heat, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is now prepared to set aside any concerns regarding the tournament model and the host country for the Asia Cup. The final decision on the location and format of the tournament lies with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Recent reports have cast doubt on the fate of the Asia Cup, particularly with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressing its opposition to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s proposed hybrid model. This model suggested that some matches would be held in Pakistan, while India’s matches and the final would take place at neutral venues.
Jalal Yunus, the Chairman of BCB’s cricket operations, addressed the media, stating, “We are interested in participating in the Asia Cup. Regardless of the tournament model, we are eager to be part of it. If the ACC decides that the tournament will be held in Dubai and the other member countries agree, we will comply and play there.”
Previously, the BCB had expressed concerns about injuries as a reason for not wanting to play in Dubai. When asked about the BCB’s stance on playing in Dubai, Yunus acknowledged some discomfort but stated, “We understand that there may be some discomfort since our focus is on the World Cup and our preparations. However, we are awaiting the ACC’s decision before making any final determinations.”
