The Journey of CRICDICTION
Now, you might ask — “TV and Facebook were already there, so why CRICDICTION?”
Well, the idea came from those who couldn’t always sit in front of a TV or be glued to Facebook. People on the go, at work, commuting, or just looking for a space to say things like:
“Why take a risky shot on a bowling pitch?”
“Should’ve scored 20 more runs!”
CRICDICTION became that place — a cricket fan’s corner to vent, cheer, and predict in real time.
Back then, Facebook groups and communities were still evolving — and to be honest, I never felt much interest in growing something on Facebook’s platform when we could build our own home for cricket fans. So, we started humbly — a basic blog sharing match previews, analyzing data we could dig up from different sources, and adding our own perspective. No ChatGPT or AI tools back then — crafting unique content was a real grind!
As time passed, we began getting more attention. That’s when we decided to add something new: a prediction plugin where users could sign up, choose teams, and see each other’s viewpoints — sparking more interaction and fun.
When traffic started growing, we applied for Google AdSense and integrated ads. But since most of our audience was from Asia, ad revenue stayed modest. No complaints though — this has always been a hobby project, not something we built with profit in mind. Our goal was simple: keep the platform alive, so fans could interact and enjoy.
